Fractions and Visualization

I enjoyed introducing the topic of fractions to my class today! We broke up into small groups and rotated to different centers to investigate the relationship between fractions and decimals, fractions and money, fractions and equal groups, and fractions and wholes. 

For Reading, our class is doing an author study on Andrew Clements. The students are broken up into reading groups based on similar reading abilities, and each group has been assigned a different book to read by Andrew Clements. Today, we looked at our main characters and visualized what they would be seeing, feeling, smelling, tasting, and hearing. I have some real artists in my class and loved seeing them get into this activity!
